Meet: Casey from Housewife Hats

Hi there! My name is Casey Forbes, founder of Housewife Hats.

Housewife Hats began the way the best ideas often do, by accident. After moving from Atlanta to Savannah four years ago, I found myself craving something creative that felt like my own. Having spent my whole life coming to the Low Country, being surrounded by salty air, Spanish moss, and an easy coastal pace felt like coming home.

One day, I bought a bucket hat that was perfectly practical for hot Savannah days, but a little too plain. So I painted flowers on it. Friends and family loved it, and during the quiet school-day hours as a stay-at-home mom of two, painting became part of my everyday routine. Our rarely used dining room, became my new studio.

I come from a very creative family, but I never believed that quality lived in me until painting hats quite literally fell into my lap. Now, every hat I create is completely one of a kind, with no two ever painted exactly the same. I love painting all kinds of images and designs, each inspired by the laid-back beauty and charm of the Low Country.

What started as a hobby grew naturally through friends, family, Instagram, and good old-fashioned word of mouth. Now, Housewife Hats are worn by people all along the East Coast. I love the challenge of each new design and the joy it brings my customers. This business began unexpectedly, but it’s become something deeply personal. Something creative, fulfilling, and completely my own.
