The squares, park, and cemeteries are staples of the historic district. The squares are shaded with beautiful live oak trees covered in Spanish Moss. Each square has its own unique beauty and history to it. The greenery and beauty of all of them makes for an amazing backdrop for pictures! They are all family and pet friendly.

Here are my absolute favorites to take a stroll through.

Savannah Squares
Parks, & Cemeteries

This square is smack dab in the center of everything and one of the most known squares. The bust stop scene from Forrest Gump was filmed here. The bench is not physically located here, but you can still snap a photo. You will also see a statue of General James Edward Olgorethope, the man who founded Georgia in 1733.

Forsyth
Park

One of Savannah's oldest cemeteries, you will find many famous Savannahians buried here and beautiful oak trees covered in Spanish Moss. Fun fact- during the Civil War, soldiers camped out here, and got a little rowdy. It is said, they carved wrong dates into some of the headstones. While you are strolling through, see if you can find any of these vandalized headstones! Open daily from 8:00AM-8:00PM
